Common questions

Is OpenVPM really free to self-host?

OpenVPM has no software license fee when you self-host under the AGPLv3 license. You remain responsible for infrastructure, database operations, backups, monitoring, email, messaging, payments, model providers, and updates.

Does OpenVPM charge per user or veterinarian?

No. Managed Cloud is priced per active location and includes unlimited staff. Self-hosted OpenVPM has no per-user software fee.

Do I need a card to start the Cloud trial?

No card is required to begin the supported trial. A trial workspace does not mean every clinical workflow, integration, or clinic type is approved for production use.

Can I move from Cloud to self-hosting later?

Yes. OpenVPM uses the same open-source application in both models. Your practice can export its data and move to infrastructure it operates, with destination setup and validation still required.
