Audit trail

An audit trail is an automatic record of every change made in your software: who did it, what changed, and when.

An audit trail logs activity inside a system so you can see exactly what happened after the fact. In a veterinary PIMS, that means every record edit, every dispensed medication, and every appointment change is stamped with the user and the time.

Audit trails matter for compliance, for resolving disputes, and for trust. If a number looks wrong, you can trace how it got that way.

OpenVPM keeps a complete audit trail across the record, and because the system is open source, you can verify how that logging works rather than taking a vendor's word for it.
